Cheetah With Her Cub,The Visitor From Mara North Conservancy On 21^st,22nd And 23^rd.August 2012.

This is the cheetah that she crossed very recently from mara North conservancy in to the reserve and she camped near Governors camps,in all of the above dates we have been seeing her at the same poin,only 5 minutes of drive from Governors private camp,and on 23^rd at around 9am she sucessfully killed a Thomson's gazelle fawn and being a caring mum she left it for her son to feed on it and after the boy had enough and even playing with it mum came in had her share.

Marsh Pride On 22nd and 24th August.2012.

On 22^nd,we came across Joy one of the marsh pride lioness who she had ran away with her cubs when the pride was taken over by the current dominant males from Romeo and Clawed,near Bilashaka.She was with her two cubs but she was doing something very different from our mums;she was trying to separate herself from them!,for sure she was seen by some guides mating and she was expected to do this.These boys can not be accepted back in the pride because the dominant males are not their dads,and I only saw 2 and did not see the third one.This is their hardest time!

On 24^th,all six of the marsh pride cubs at bilashaka looked great,playing with their two mums,they have been moving both to musiara marsh and Bilashaka and their mums even siena(older mama),are cooperating in bringing up these celebrities who everybody for the last few weeks have been looking for.Long life totos.

Massive Crossings n 21st and 22nd at paradise crossing points.

It was on on early morning of 21^st that we witnessed thousands of wildbeests and and Zebras crossing the river with some at mortuary crossings getting drowned and even getting stucked among the rocks,crocodiles are full not much active but at one angle African white backed vulture was got,veru funny!!

And on the following day 22^nd.August.2012,with mark williams,we sat at the river from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm,waiting for them to cross,it was the longest I have ever waited,some people coming in and leaving but very sad for those who they sat for that long and five or ten minutes after they left,wildbeests were crossing in big numbers!! on that day we saw biiiigggggggg crossing,and they have been crossing almost daily to mara triangle.

This is a known marsh for its abundance of wildlife,alot of herbivores coming for water and greener pastures,the carnivores coming for the herbivores,and it is for the first drive that when we get our clients we take them here and amazes most of them on the amount of game here,at one point you can count more than 10 mammal species,sorrounding you and a lot of birds'species,and at this time of migration this is one of the few places where you can find good number of Elephants.

         we left the camp at 6:30 am and 10 minutes later at the Governors Airstrip,where we park our safari jeeps as we wait for the clients who are arriving and saying kwaheri to the departures,we found sienna and the other mother of the six cubs playing,they look very healthy both the cubs and their mums.On heir company was one female,who on the afternoon game drive of 19th.August.2012.we found her in this mama totos family.
         In less than 5 minutes we discovered that there were two males nearby and when one came close,it was of its own kind watching these two great mums fighting him,and after winning sienna slapped the other mama severally,and as it was happening 5 cubs were watching and one had gone hiding.

On the afternoon of the above date i went out on a safari and after checking on the crossing points at paradise and not finding any wildbeests ready to cross we found these two cubs with their family i.e mum,dads and cousins,they were born on the big rock near at paradise,they are now seen accompanying their parents,although not seen daily because paradise plains has alot of rocky croton bushes that if they go hiding in there, nobody would easily spot them.Good Luck.

Marsh pride Today with Bibi as The main character.

If you look on my blog archives,you will find that marsh pride has six cubs,with sienna and Bibi each having two and one respectively.This morning it was very surprising to see Bibi on courtship,but earlier on I had explained that sienna but have adopted bibi's cub which it turned out to be truth today,but still there are speculations of sienna mating,then where are their cubs?we have only been seeing one female with three cubs but the other three are missing,what is going on here?are the cubs atill alive?and who has adopted them if their mums are on 'honeymoon'.In about 14 months these two have lost their cubs and their maternal care is seemed to be lost,poor marsh pride.I'll be updating you on the developing story in our famous pride,The marsh pride.

Cheetah with a cub,Not malaika today on 16^th.August.2012.

We have been following one cheetah with one cub for the last two months on our game drives,but yesterday another cheetah with one cub of about 9 months was spotted by Governors airstrip and this morning I set of to look for her and after watching our great marsh pride I found her,travelling toward paradise plains.we welcome her on our side,she definetly crossed from mara North conservancy,but why she went to where malaika has been camping for the last one week,who is to give way?more updates on this very lucky and sweet to follow two cheetah mums,each with one cub!!
